CARDIAC SCINTIGRAPHY IN PATIENTS WITH TYPE I DIABETES MELLITUS
Fatma Abdel Ghani Abdel Kader;
Abstract
Silent myocardial ischaemia is common in diabetic patients in whom there •is no anginal pain, no symptoms suggestive of cardiovascular affection even ECG may be free of ischaemic changes.
Cardiac scintigraphy is one of the most important methods in detection of this silent myocardial ischaemia especially when using Tc-99m sestamibi a myocardial perfusion tracer, which has the most favorable characteristics to detect myocardial perfusion defects.
The current study was done to evaluate the role of cardiac scintigraphy in detection of silent myocardial ischaemia in type I diabetic patients.
