Abstract


Acute renal failure during pregnancy is still a critical occurrence associated with serious prognosis for both women
• and kidneys.
The aim of the work is to study the incidence of A.R.F. in pregnancy, different etiologies, compare different modalities of treatment (conservative, intermittent HDx, slow continuous Hemodiafiltration, and evaluate the over all prognosis.
All patients admitted at Ain Shams University Obstetric Hospital with pregnancy-related A.R.F. in two years duration from 1/9/1997 to 3118/1999 were evaluated.
All these patients were subjected at time of presentation to full history and clinical examination, serum BUN and creatinine, Na, K, Ca, P04 complete urine analysis, urine sodium fraction excretion, uric acid, CBC, liver function tests, Abdominal US, and renal biopsy when indicated.
Patients were classified according to the mode of treatment into two groups: group I treated conservatively, group 2a treated with intermittent HDx, and group 2b treated with slow continuous Hemodiafiltration.
