Percutaneous nephrostomy has now become a vital and commonplace method for investigation and treatment of upper tract pathology. By far the most common indication for percutaneous catheter placement is temporary decompression of an obstructed kidney.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the indications, technique, post operative assessment of the results, benefits and outcome of the use of percutaneous nephrostomy drainage of cases with advanced hydronephrosis: infected and non infected and severely ill uremic patients with bilateral hydronephrosis.
