Abstract


Introduction
Lead is one of the environmental pollutant which can affect many organ systems in the body especially the kidney leading to chronic renal failure associated with hypertension, gout and low level proteinuria.
Aim of the work
To evaluate the effect of occupational lead exposure on kidney function parameters.
Subjects and Methods
This study was carried out on 80 workers occupationally exposed to lead in the Egyptian electric cable compariy. for a period ranging from 2-35 years, all workers exposed to:
1. Careful history taking.
2. Clinical e.xaminat on.
3. Special investigations including measuring of kidney function tests (urea, creatinine and uric acid), blood lead level and urinary 8ALA.
