Abstract


Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by a raised blood glucose concentration which is caused either by a deficiency of the hormone insulin or by the presence of factors oppositing. the action of insulin DM is relatively common affecting some 1-2% of the population, of these, 25% have IDDM and 75% have NIDDM. It is estimated that an additional 0-5% of the population are undiagnosed but do have diabetes, the total prevalence of diabetes mellitus above 35 years old was found to be 9.6% in the Egyptian population at Assiut governorate, there are two types ofDM, IDDM (type I) is commonly first diagnosis in childhood or the one at of which usually before the age of 30 years and NIDDM (type I), is the most commonly diagnosed in adulthood. Some non-insulin dependent diabetes can control by diet alone, other require in addition oral medication.
In this study the researcher tried to investigate and identify needs for developing and implementing an education program designed to improve lmowledge and skills ofpatients to be able to avoid complications..
Health education is a process with intellectual psychological and social dimensions relating to activities which increase the abilities of people to make informal decisions, affecting their personal, family and community well being. This process based on scientific principles facilitates learning and behavioral change in both health personnel and consumers.
The aim of the study was to identify the impact of management program for non-insulin dependent diabetic patient on controlling the complications.
