Abstract


Disorders of the carotid circulation are mostly due to atherosclerosis, affecting the internal carotid artery (ICA). Over 90% ofiCA ol;>struction occur below the origin of the ophthalmic artery, which form the main ocular blood supply.

The aim of our work is to mediate about the different ophthalmological manifestations that could result from carotid insufficiency, and their prevelance in relation to the different grades of carotid affections, in a trial to circumscribe the most important ocular manifestations that currently associate carotid artery disease. .

Our study involved 60 patients from the outpatient clinics and also the inpatients of Tanta University Hospital. They were divided into two groups:-
