Assessment of Anti-Müllerian Hormone Level in Male Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease

Fatma El-Said Said Ahmed;

Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a decrease in kidney function or kidney damage that persists for at least 3 months(KIDGO, 2012).Male reproductive function is impaired during end-stage renal disease (ESRD). Disturbance of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis, and therefore the regulation of sex hormones, is one of the major causes.Common clinical problems include erectile dysfunction in males, decreased libido and infertility (Robert and McLachlan, 2000). Thus, this study was designed to investigate the level of Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) and determine whether serum level of AMH is related to vitamin D status in patients suffer from different stages of chronic kidney disease.
