Abstract


Transitional cell carcinoma of the urinary tract especially the ladder is one of the most common malignancies. It is estimated to be the fourth most common cancer in male and eighth most common cancer in female individuals.


The disease is mostly multifactorial and involves genetic and environmental interactions including cigarette smoking, occupational exposures to several agents, chronic infections and other miscellaneous factors.



Patients with bladder cancer present with hematuria, symptoms of ladder outlet obstruction, retention, pelvic fullness, suprapubic discomfort or pressure, or suprapubic mass.


Disease in patient with bladder cancer is diagnosed by variOus procedures, including urine cytology, cystoscopy with biopsy and excretory urography. The majority of bladder cancers are classifid as TCC. HistologicaL appearance and differentiation are used to grade the tumor and depth of muscle invasion is used to classify the clinical stage of disease.
