NEW ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHIC CRITERIAE FOR PREDICTING THE CULPRIT CORONARY ARTERY IN INFERIOR WALL ACUTE MYOCARDIAL INFARCTION

Osama Lewis Ibrahim;

Abstract

Electrocardiogram is still one of the most important tools to diagnose the presence of acute myocardial infarction.

For many years, in the diagnosis of acute inferior myocardial infarction we observe the ST segment elevation in the inferior leads as cornerstone of the diagnosis, focusing a little light on the development of acute left anterior hemiblock as a complication of acute inferior wall myocardial infarction.

In our study, we tried to disclose the relation between
. development of LAH and the presence of left anterior descending artery occlusion and multivessels affection as well as what is the culprit artery as judged by diagnostic coronary angiography.

In our study, forty patients with a definite diagnosis of acute inferior myocardial infarction within 6 hours of onset of chest pain were prospectively studied. Serial resting electrocardiograms were done and serial enzymatic
levels were measured to all patients.
