Abstract

Autism Spectrum Disorder children (ASD) often present with communication deficits, dependence on routines, high sensitivity to changes in their environment, and tendency to intensely focus on inappropriate items. According to DSM-V language impairment is a comorbidity or a specifier, however it is the earliest and most common comorbidity detected in ASD.
This study was applied on 40 children divided into two groups, a study group and a control group. The study group consisted of 20 children diagnosed with ASD from Phoniatric and Psychiatry outpatient clinics and the control group consisted of 20 normal children in order to assess the syntactic profile of ASD children. Modified Arabic (PLS-4) Test and Stanford Bient intelligence scales (fifth edition) were done for all children (study and control) and Child autism rating scale (CARS) was done for children with ASD.
