Noha Salaheldin Aboelwafa Abdelhalim;

Abstract

ystemic lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a heterogenerous inflammatory autoimmune disease with a highly variable course of relapsing and remission, resulting in damage to essentially any organ system. It is characterized by the production of multiple auto antibodies, mainly antinuclear (ANA) and anti-dsDNA antibodies. It is more common in females than in males with 9:1 ratio, starting during their child bearing period. The diagnosis of SLE is based on the presence of 4 out of 11 of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria for the classification of SLE.
