Interleukin-8 in chronic renal failure and patients on peritoneal Dialysis

Abstract


The present study was carried out on 45 subjects who were divided into 4 groups :
Group I Group II Group III
GroupN
consisted of 10 healthy individuals acting as control group . consisted of 20 uremic patients (undialyzed) .
consisted of 9 peritoneal dialyzed patients e out peritonitis .
consisted of 6 peritoneal dialyzed patients e peritonitis .
The aim of this work is to study the levels ofiL- 8 in uremic patients
--- and patients under peritoneal dialysis therapy with and without peritonitis in order to determine any changes which might be induced by dialysis procedure in uremia itself.
The results of this study showed that :
The mean value of serum IL - 8 in undialyzed uremic patients , peritoneal dialyzed e out peritonitis and peritoneal dialyzed with peritonitis were significantly increased when compared to the mean value obtained in
the control group .
