Abstract
H5N1 avian influenza viruses are a causative agents of outbreaks of fatal disease in poultry worldwide, and a cause of fatal infection in human with more than 50% mortality rate and the threat of pandemic outbreak of influenza virus A H5N1 become a major concern worldwide.
Both animal and public health sectors at national, regional and international levels should maintain vigilance in regulatory detecting, reporting and characterizing influenza viruses, and in assessing and managing existing and evolving health risk associated with these viruses.
Isolation of type A influenza viruses in specific pathogen free embryonating chicken eggs is critical for epidemiological investigation of outbreaks and for several other purposes including vaccine production.
