Abstract

ABSTRACT
Backgrounds: Inguinal hernia is a common problem, affecting more than one-quarter of men during their lifetime. Hernias can occasionally be life-threatening if the bowel strangulates or becomes obstructed and in these cases emergency surgery is indicated. Success of groin hernia repair is measured primarily by the permanence of the operation, fewest complications, minimal costs, and earliest return to normal activities. Of all the factors used to compare the various methods of inguinal hernia repair, the incidence of recurrence is most often held as the measure of success.
Purposee: The current study was conducted at Ain Shams University Hospitals during the period between January and July 2017. A total of 20 patients with recurrent inguinal hernia were compared to 20 patients with primary inguinal hernia. The aim of this study was to compare the outcome of primary vs recurrent inguinal hernia repair.
