VISUAL FUNCTION ASSESSMENT BY PATTERN VISUAL EVOKED POTENTIAL AND PATTERN ELECTRORETINO GRAM IN CHRONIC SIMPLE GLAUCOMA
Faten Abass Mohamed;
Abstract
To assess visual function in pnmary open angle glaucoma (POAG), pattern electroretinogram (PERG) and visual evoked potentials (PVEP) were studied in 27 patients with (raised intraocular pressure, large cup-disc ratio, glaucomatous visual field defects and normal open angle) and having an almost clear media, using transient reversal pattern stimulation (30' minutes, high contrast black-white checks). The (POAG) group was subdivided into 3 subgroups according to• visual field defects (mild, moderate and severe groups). Also, according to intraocular pressure level (lOP), the (POAG) group was subdivided into 2 subgroups (high and very high groups). Comparing the responses with a similar matched age and sex group of
15 healthy subjects. Both groups were subjected to medical and ophthalmic examination.
