Study of changes in serum Aluminum Strontium and Cadmium in children with chronic renal insufficiency
Faisal Yousef Mohamed Yousef;
Abstract
The present work was carried out at the Pediatric
Dialysis Unit, Children's Hospital, Ain Shams
University.
The study included 25 children with chronic renal failure(CRF) under regular HD and 20 children with chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) under conservative
treatment in addition to 20 appatently healthy
r children serving as control group.
Children in this tudy were subjected to full history taking, thorough clinical examination and laboratory investigations including complete blood picture, renal function tests and serum Aluminum (Al), Strontium (Sr) and Cadmium (Cd) using flameless atomic absorption technique.
The mean serum Al level of patients under conservative treatment (72.8 ± 21.76 tg/L) was higher
than the mean serum Al level of CRF patients under
regular HD (54.6 ± 18.1 tg/L). The mean serum Al
1. level of both patients under conservative treatment and under regular HD was significantly higher than
control group (32.4 ± 9.15 11g/dl).
