Abstract

Twenty completely edentulous patients were selected for this study to investigate the correlation between muscular activity and retention of dentures with three different border molding materials as follows:
1-Green stick compound.
2- Tray dough resin stick.
3- .Heavy body rubber base.
A special tray was constructed for each patient, border molding was done by using green stick compound and secondary impression was made by using zinc oxide and eugenol impression
.. material. Upper and lower dentures were processed in the usual manner.
Two months after delivery of the denture to the patient, the denture was tested for retention and muscle activity.
Testing retention of the maxillary denture was done by using
Forcemeter tension gauge graduated from 0-2000 gms.
The force required to dislodge the denture maxillary from its basal seat in the patients mouth, was determined through four points of force application.
1- Geometrical center.
2- Right and left canine eminence.
3- Labial notch.
