Aspects of Postmodernism in British and American Fiction of The 1960s: An Analytical Study of Some Representative Novels
Hala Zakariya Khalifa Ahmed;
Abstract
There is a wide consensus among thinkers and literary critics that the world and indeed life at large has taken a different tum after World War II. Witnessing destruction on a massive scale and seeing what technological advancement can do to mankind have instigated a desire and perhaps even a need to distance oneself from such a reality if not to subvert . it. Art, especially fiction, being prone to such vicissitudes thus becomes highly qualified to be affected and to affect certain modes of aesthetics. Such mutations and changes have gained ground and have spawned what is generally called Postmodemism--a term that has intrigued many a scholar and thinker for the past decades.
