Abstract


The present work was designed to determine renal and hepatic functional and structural alterations in an experimental rat model of renal ischemia-reperfusion (I-R) subjected to chronic immobilization stress in a trial to investigate the possible underlying mechanism(s). Also, to shed light on the possible beneficial effects of olive oil supplementation as a potential protective nutritional intervention against these alterations.
The study was carried out on 77 Wistar male albino rats, initially weighing 260-330 grams, which were allocated into the following 5 groups:
