NATURAL IMMUNOMODULATORS

Abstract


The aim of this study is to review the natural substances which have an immunomodulatory function and to summarize their potential therapeutic effects .
Some natural substances which are present in our daily life have an effect on the human immune system, for example: colostrum, Nigella sativa seed, olive oil, mustard, henna, colocynth and honey.
Colostrum immunoglobulins are described in many recent studies as having a benifi.cial effect on the treatment of viral infections, bacterial infections and parasitic diarrhoeas .
The essential oil of Nigella sativa seeds has been proven to have an antitumor, antiallergic, antihypertensive, antibacterial, and antifungal effects. It also enhances the production of interleukin-1 by human lymphocytes. Morever, it has a therapeutic use in the treatment of bronchial asthma, and it causes a definite increase in bile flow. • Nigella sativa seeds has an antirheumatic and anti­
inflammatory effects .
