Abstract

In the present study, thirty adult female albino rats
with regular estrus cycle were divided into five groups (six
rats each): Group 1 (Control group) were left through the
experiment without receiving medications. Group 2 (Vehicle
group) received vehicle only (2ml/kg body weight of 1%
aqueous solution of Carboxy Methyl Cellulose by oral
gavage once/day for 21 days). Group 3 (Fenugreek group)
received 100 mg/kg body weight fenugreek seed extract by
oral gavage once/day for 21 days. Group 4 (PCO group)
received letrozole orally at a dose of 1 mg/kg dissolved in
1% (CMC) by oral gavage once/day for 21 days. Then rats
were left for another 21 days without receiving medications.
Group 5 (Treated group) received 1 mg/kg of letrozole
dissolved in 1% (CMC) by oral gavage once/day for 21 days.
Then rats were supplemented with 100 mg/kg body weight
fenugreek seed extract by oral gavage once/day for another
21 days.
