Phonological awareness among Egyptian children who stutter
Noura Gamil Mohammed Hassan;
Abstract
This may indicate that the difference in phonological
awareness/phonological encoding present between people
who do and do not stutter may be just one of the
contributing factors that can lead to an unstable speech
system in people who stutter.
The examination of the differences of stuttering and
non-stuttering children in individual variables, which
describe phonological awareness, showed that these two
groups statistically significantly differ in terms of ability to
rhyme and ability to delete and substitute phoneme. This
results point to a defect in the phonological working
memory of children who stutter.
