Management of Post-operative Leakage after Sleeve Gastrectomy
Omar Rady Khairat Hammad;
Abstract
Obesity has reached epidemic proportions with associated many co-morbidities and decrease in life expectancy.
Bariatric surgery currently has the best results among all of the treatments for obesity especially with the shift from open to laparoscopic surgery which occurred in the 1990s. It has a marked superiority in excess weight reduction, remission of comorbidities, and the improvement in the quality of life.
Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is currently gaining popularity as a primary and sole weight-loss operation for morbidly obese patients and it seems to be an effective standalone procedure for durable weight loss and comorbidity resolution.
