The Effect of Using Some Questioning Strategies in Teaching English On Developing The First Year Secondary School Students Speaking Skills

Abstract
The main concern of this study is it investigate the effectiveness of using questioning strategy on developing the first year secondary school students speaking skill. Such development is intended to guarantee promoting apalytical intellectual powers in students. Sorthey could clearly state their
opposing viewpoints and give suff' icient evidence to make their perspectives clear.
Thus, the problem of this study is to promote the development of speaking skills through using questioning strategy in English language.
To confirm that there is a problem in the oral speaking skills, a pilot study was conducted. The sample of the pilot study was randomly selected from some secondary schools located in northern Cairo educational directorate. The students were asked some familiar questions. Their answers were recorded and analysed. It revealed the inability of the students to generate their own thoughts or even answer freely.
Two questionnaires were designed to identify and select most suitable questioning strategiesfor the students' needs and interests and to find out the view points of teachers and professional experts in the filed.
Results of the study showed much higher significance in favor of the experimental group. Finally, this study raised m;my proposals which need to be explored.
