Abstract
SUMMARY
The present work was carried out to reveal the .phannacokinetic profile of one of the commonly used antibacterial agents in veterinary medicine enronoxacin. The bioavailability following oral and intranntscular injection of the drug and the protein binding affinity of the tested drug to plasma proteins were also estimated . The tissue residues of the drug were also studied .
The study was carried out on 135 clinically healthy, broiler chickens of body weight 1500 - 1750 gm, divided into two groups of non infected broiler chickens and Mycoplasma gallisepticum infected chickens. The concentration of enronoxacin was determined using the microbiological assay method. The obtained results showed that following intravenous injection of I 0 mg I kg in non infected and infected chickens, enrofloxacin was fitted to follow the two compartment open model. The distribution half life (t05") was 0.14 ± 0.003 hour. The drug was transfetTed from the
central compartment to the peripheral compartment at a constant rate (k 12)
of 3.33 ± 0.081 h.1 c0mpared to 4.12 ± 0.136 h.1 • in infected chickens.The volume of distribution of the central compartment (Yc) was found 0.62 ±
