The Frequency of Iron Deficiency and Iron Deficiency Anemia in Children with Cyanotic Heart Disease and Non-Cyanotic Heart Disease

Zahraa Mohamed Hussein;

Abstract

Anemia resulting from lack of sufficient iron for synthesis of Hb is the most common hematological disease of infancy and childhood. The frequency of IDA is related to certain basic aspects of iron metabolism and nutrition. IDA is especially often present in children with CHD caused by many different factors.
The present study aims to detect the frequency of ID and IDA among children with CHD.
