Comparative Study between the Effect of Lyophilized Human Platelets Derived Growth Factors in Conjunction with Microneedling and Microneedling only in The Treatment of Post Acne Scars: Split Face Study

Abstract

The present study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of combined use of derma pen plus intradermally injected L-GF and derma pen alone in the treatment of atrophic post acne scars. To the best of our knowledge, previous studies didn‘t investigate the role of L-GF for treatment of atrophic post acne scars. The assessment was done before each session and 2 weeks after the last session through the clinical photographs. In addition, we assessed the indentation index of the wrinkles, by using Antera 3D camera. Our study showed that the mean age of patients was 28.35 ± 4.87 years, ECCA classification (<100) are 55% and (>100) are 45%, 50% of cases had skin type IV and previous treatment was reported by 25% of cases only. All patients showed improvement in the severity of acne scars in both sides after each session with maximal percent at the follow up period. Both microneedling alone, and microneedling plus L-GF produced significant improvement in the atrophic post acne scars. This proves previous findings of the role of microneedling in inducing wound repair, tissue remodeling and collagen deposition. L-GF had not been investigated before for the treatment of atrophic post acne
