Abstract
SUMMARY
O
ur study was a case control study that was conducted on 25 patients diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy as a study group, they were recruited from the Pediatric Cardiology Unit of Ain Shams University Hospitals.
The study group consisted of 7 males (28%) and 18 females (72%). Their ages ranged from 1 year to 14.5 years (median= 4 years), while their disease duration ranged from 1 month to 13 years (median= 2.7 years).
Regarding the anthropometric measurements, they were lower in the patients group. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. Meanwhile, there was a highly significant difference regarding the body mass index being lower in the patients group.
