Abstract

This study aimed to test the efficiency of PIPS technique in minimally instrumented canals regarding canal cleanliness in terms of pulpal tissue dissolution and smear layer removal ability, also the subsequent bonding to the root canal in terms of sealer penetration and push-out bond strength.
Root canals under investigation was all prepared to an apical size (#25) with 3 different tapers (4%, 6% & 8%) in the quest for finding the best taper in terms of the results of the parameters under investigation.
The results of all tests showed a marked superiority of the PIPS technique over the passive irrigation groups owing to the marked debridement ability and the effect of that was markedly noticed on the subsequent bonding to the root canal dentin.
PIPS technique rendered the root canals more clean, free of pulpal tissue remnants and less covered with smear layer. It provided a better environment for bonding which was reflected on the results of the study.
