THE USE OF SOME AGRICULTURAL RESIDUES IN SURFACE CULTIVATION OF BARLEY PLANTS BY MICROORGANISMS

Abstract
In order to improve the green fodder production under hydroponic conditions using agricultural residues and microorganisms, barley grains were grown in a hydroponic developing chamber (8 days) and were subjected to vegetation and chemical analysis. Productivity measured was carried out based on the contents of barley grains and hydroponic barley sprout yield. The data revealed that the microbial counts recorded in rice straw were less than those recorded in bagasse. The counts were 2.8*104 CFU g-1, 5.8* 106 and 5.3* 104 CFU in rice straw, bagasse and barley grains. While, the fungal count reached to 1.4 * 102. 3.0 * 104 and 1.6 * 103 CFU in same materials used. The microbial counts increased by 48%, 82% and 104% with inoculation with Pseudomonas fluorescens, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Ps. fluorescens + S. cerevisiae respectively. In the meantime the hydroponic barley sprout cultivated on bagasse show an increase in total counts and reached 62%, 118% and 190% with, Ps. fluorescens, S. cerevisiae and Ps. fluorescens + S. cerevisiae respectively. The microbial distribution in the agricultural residual, spore-forming bacteria was predominating in rice straw (56%) and Saccharomyces (18%) in bagasse. The vegetative characteristics of hydroponic barley sprout developed on rice straw displayed the highest fresh weight. The most noteworthy estimates were recorded with hydroponic barley sprout developed on the fine size of rice straw that had been inoculated with Pseudomonas + Saccharomyces. Comparable outcomes was gotten when hydroponic barley sprout were developed on bagasse. Data demonstrated that nitrogen free extract, ash, lipid, fiber, and protein contents were increased in hydroponic barley sprout developed on fine rice straw and inoculated with Ps. fluorescens + S. cerevisiae. The amount of organic matter and total carbohydrates of hydroponic barley sprout, acquired per kg of cultivated barley grain, were lower than those of the control samples.
