Assessment And Management Of Arm Lymphoedema Post-Breast Cancer Treatment

Abstract

l-In our locality Assiut, the true incidence of arm lymphoedema post­ breast cancer primary therapy needs further researches on a large population of breast cancer patient.

2-The problem of arm lymphoedema has to be recognized and to be put under focous by the treating physicians.

3-In this study ,it has been proven that complex physical therapy can play a significant role in the treatment and reduction of lymphoedematous mms.

4-It was found evident that in arm lymphoedema the earlier the treatment given ,the better the prognosis .

5-Preventive measures should be considered in patients at risk of developing arm lymphoedema such as avoiding arm trauma ,avoiding over-loading the arm (i.e. carrying heavy loads) and immediate treatment of infection .
