Effect of Tomato and Guava juices on Oxidative Stress in Diabetic Rats after Strenuous Exercise

Abstract


The present study was carried out to investigate the oxidative stress which play an important role in the pathogenesis of numerous degenerative and chronic diseases. Some antioxidants in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) and guava (Psidium guajava) juices were found to have a powerful antioxidant effect. Fifty six adult male albino rats were used to compare the effect of tomato and guava juices on oxidative stress in diabetic rats after strenuous exercise. This study found that, vitamin C and zinc in guava fresh fruit juice were higher than it tomato counterpart. On contrast, vitamins A and E in fresh tomato juice
