ACUTE SYSTEMIC ORGAN INJURY AFTER PERINATAL ASPHYXIA

Abstract
The tudy included 50 newborn infants (35 fullterm and 15 preterm) with 5 minutes Apgar score <7 as well as 20 apparently normal newborn infants as contn;>l .
Full hi tory and clinical assessement including maternal illnesses and maternal drugs intake during pregnancy, mode of delivery, Apgar score at 5 minutes, number and type of organ affections, renal and cardiovascular manifestations, HIE grading were done. All cases were assessed by echocardiography, cranial sonography and chest x-ray.
All cases anq controls had subjected to the following investigations: lactic dehydrogenase, total creatine kinase, creatine kinase MB, total bilirubin, direct bilirubin, sefl,lm creatinine, haemoglobin level, blood glucose, sen.m oqium, potassium, calcium measurements and blood gases analysis.
