The Performance, Stability And Genetic Analysis For Agronomic Traits In Bread Wheat Under Drought Condition
Saeid Heragy Mohamed Abdel-Haleem;
Abstract
The present investigation was carried out at Assiut univ.Exper.Farm during the three seasons of 1999/2000, 2000/2001 and 2001/2002.The purpose of this investigation was to :
!-Estimate the performance and stability parameters of fourty bread wheat.Such parameters could be used for giving the right decision for rejecting or accepting a particular genotype.
2-Study the genetic system controlling morphological traits ,grain yield and its components in eight bread wheat genotypes and combining ability for parents genotypes and their progenies to be used in the formulation of systematic breeding program for improving quantitative traits such as yield and yield components under drought condition.
1-The performance and stability parameters:
The stability analysis was computed as outlined by Eberhart and Russell (1966).Fourty bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes of diverse origin were evaluated over eight environments (the combination of 2 seasons x 4 water irrigation treatments i.e, one irrigation, after 21 days from sowing (D1), two irrigations, after 21 and 44 days from sowing (D2), three irrigations, after 21,44 and 77 days from sowing (D3) and the recommended irrigations, as control (D4), (was irrigated six times after planting irrigation).
The studied traits includes, days to heading, spike length , no.of spikes/plant, grain yield/plant, grain weight/spike and I 000-grain weight. The results obtained could be summarized as follows :
1- The joint regression analysis of variance revealed highly significant differences among genotypes, environments as well as genotype x environment interaction for all studied traits.
