MRI IN ACHILLES TENDON INJURIES
Ibrahim Abdalla Sobhy;
Abstract
In our study, there was total agreement between the
results of clinical diagnosis and MRI findings regarding the
diagnosis of being partial thickness Achilles tendon tear
and complete tear. However MRI added more information
in case of partial tears about associated tendinosis and/or
peritendinitis and in cases of full thickness tears, it added
information about the exact site of tear, gap distance and
fraying of torn edges which helped in decision taking for
management.
MR imaging results were helpful in choosing the line
of treatment and follow-up during healing period and
allows discrimination of normal from pathological
structures and observation of the internal substance of the
tendon
