Assuit University and its effect on Urban Growth of the City

Abdelkawe, Mohamedabdelsalam;

Abstract

The city of Assiut is located to the south of Cairo at a distance of 375 km, and to the north of Aswan, about 520 km. It is located in the framework of the desert region at the intersection of longitude 10 to 31 to the east with a latitude 10-27 degrees
The city witnessed an increasing urban growth in the last half of the twentieth century - which was contemporary with the establishment of Assiut University, which was established to be a university with a civilized façade and a beacon for Upper Egypt - and this is evident through the urban maps available for the city, and for the ease of study, the process of urban growth of the city was divided into six periods of time. Two before and during the establishment of the university and three after its establishment.
