MEDICO-LEGAL ASPECTS OF CASES OF ABDOMINAL INJURY REFERED TO MENOUFIYA UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS

Abstract

• . The present study has aimed to throw lighupon the abdominal injuries from the medico-legal point of view to fulfill this following was done:

1- The literature was Reviewed related to abdominal injuries starting from, general injury, anatomy, physiology of the abdomen and abdominal injuries (mechanism, types, causative instruments, m01iality, complications... etc.).

2- The available reports of cases of abdominal injuries that had - ' been referred to Shebin El-Kom university hospital during the period

of study were studied and analysed. ! In each case report the following informations were studied the age , sex ,education , occupation, .marital status, time of arrival ,place of injury , transportation, accompaniment, circumstances , causative instrument , type of injury , site of injury , associated injuries and Management. I

The results of study have showed that:

! 1. •Two hundred and sixty patients with abdominal trauma came to ] I h..ospital during the period of study (first of April 2000 to the end • ofMarsh 2001).
