Assessment of Potential Roles of Some Molecular Markers in The Diagnosis and Prognosis of Diabetic Nephropathy
Noura Mohammad Hussein Darwish;
Abstract
Abstract
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a severe health problem in developed countries. Better stratigies for early DN progression detection in diabetic patients are important due to poor predictive potential of albuminuria. This study aims to evaluate the potential role of (IL-18, PPARG, THBS-1 and TGF-β1) genes’ expression level in leukocytes of DN patients as molecular markers for DN progression in patients with type 2 diabetic's mellitus (T2DM). These genes are considered to have proinflammatory and profibrotic effects and may be involved in the pathogenesis of DN.
