Abstract


astitis is inflammation of the breast that may or may not be accompanied by infection. The term mastitis is often used synonymous with breast infection, but strictly speaking mastitis is inflammation of the breast irrespective of the cause. Having mastitis does not raise the woman’s risk of developing breast cancer.
Inflammatory breast diseases consist of a wide array of conditions ranging from the benign simple infective mastitis to breast malignancy. Imaging features of benign and malignant inflammatory conditions often overlap which may cause diagnostic confusion and possibly delay proper treatment.
