Therapeutic Role of Polysaccharides from Two Algae on Hypercholesterolemic and Diabetic Rats
Magda Mohamed Mokhtar Mostafa;
Abstract
The medical treatment and reduction effects of diabetes and hyperlipidemia are key modalities in the prevention of heart disease. There is an urgent need for more effective and other treatment options that ameliorate the adverse effects accompanied with fenofibrate and glibenclamide therapy in hyperlipidemic diabetic patients.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the bioactivity of the polysaccharides obtained from seaweed Enteromorpha intestinalis, a green alga and Dictyopteris membranacea, a brown alga on hypercholesterolemia and hyperglycemia induced-rats fed with high fat and high cholesterol diets.
