Some Genes Expression in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats in Response to Mushroom Extract Treatment
Zahraa Nassar Mohamed Nassar;
Abstract
The current study was carried out to evaluate the ameliorative role of mushroom extract on some biochemical parameters, oxidative stress biomarkers and expression level of some genes related to vascular complication and antioxidant status induced by STZ in rats.
For this purpose, a total number of 32 male albino rats were used in the present study. The animals were divided into 4 equal groups (8 rats for each) the first group served as control normal, the second group normal rats treated with mushroom while the remaining 16 rats were injected I.P with 50 mg/kg body weight of freshly prepared Streptozotocin for the induction of hyperglycemia. The diabetic rats were classified into two equal groups. The first one served as control diabetic while the last group was treated with 400 mg/kg body weight of Pleurotus ostreatus (Po) extract daily for six weeks.
