Ramy Raffat William Morkos;

Abstract

therosclerosis is a diffuse pathological disease that may affect any vascular bed in the body and carry out a great risk that affect both morbidity and mortality.
Both PAD and CAD are caused by atherosclerosis that narrows and blocks arteries in various critical regions of the body.
The most common symptoms of PAD involving the lower extremities are cramping, pain or tiredness in the leg or hip muscles while walking or climbing stairs. Typically, this pain relieve with rest. This is usually followed by change in skin texture, hair loss, color changes, cold extremities.
One of the major concerns for PAD and its importance is that it affects the functioning and healthcare financial burden.
The good news is PAD can be easily detected in people at risk for developing PAD even at earlier stages while they are asymptomatic with very simple, easy and non-invasive way like ABI.
People at risk are diabetic, hypertensive, people has dyslipidemia, patients with impaired kidney function tests or on regular hemodialysis.
