Abstract


uicide is a worldwide phenomenon and one of the leading causes of death
As it is well known that the risk of completed suicide increases with age. Being highest in older adolescents before stabilizing in early adulthood.
Also, Gender presents a now well-established paradox in which adolescent girls are more likely to have experienced suicidal ideation and suicide attempt than boys, but adolescent boys are more likely to die by suicide.
For Egypt; The suicide rates have increased in the past few years, indicating a grave problem that needs to be solved.
Egyptian adolescence under the age of 17 represents almost 34.2 % of the total population. Hence, the importance of investigating suicide attempts and their correlates among this age group.
This rise in suicide among adolescence could be attributed to the effect of growing attraction of electronic communication, especially social media. Howe ever; there are no scientific studies that have determined the exact nature of these associations or quantified their extent.
