QFD-BASED APPROACHES FOR EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT DESIGN
Yassin Mohamed Mohamed Abdelsamad;
Abstract
Summary:
The Emergency Department (ED) is one of the most complex and dynamic units in hospitals. This department provides the required care for patients arriving at its door without prior appointment. The ED design has a direct influence on the quality of provided service. Numerous designs methods were presented for EDs. Yet, there is still a design inadequacy which leads to many problems, such as shortage in clinical services, patient crowding, prolonged length of stay, and higher mortality rates. This study proposed a new ED design framework that combines the stakeholder inputs with innovative design ideas.
