Production of Hydrogen and Methane by Two Stage Fermentation of Food Waste
Gamal Kamel Mohamed Hassan;
Abstract
Abstract
In the present study, hydrogen and methane production via dark fermentation of real food waste has been investigated. Two anaerobic digestion systems namely, Upflow Anaerobic Biofilter Reactor (UABR) and Continuous Stirred Tank Reactor(CSTR) were used. To develop the optimum operating conditions, UABR lab-scale module was used. To maximize hydrogen production and energy yield via anaerobic digestion of food waste, Electrodialysis technique was used connected with CSTR.
