Effect of Novel Surface Treatment Protocol on Bonding and Flexural Strength of Monolithic Y-TZP
Eslam Anwar Ahmed El- Marsafy;
Abstract
The desire for improved esthetics has resulted in increased popularity and widespread use of monolithic zirconia restorations which have been used in restorative dentistry due to their favorable mechanical and optical properties, simple clinical technique and relatively low cost. 1
All-ceramic restorations have been widely used for their superior aesthetic results and biocompatibility. Various ceramic materials have been developed, and in some studies, their mechanical and physical characteristics have been evaluated and reported on. While all-ceramic crowns are aesthetically superior, there have been concerns about their clinical application due to their relatively lower mechanical strength than metal-ceramic crown.2
