NURSING MANAGMENT OF PATIENTS WITH TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT AT ORTHOPAEDIC WARDS IN SELECTED HOSPITALS

Abstract
Total hip replacement is a surgical operation in which complete replacement of a hip joint is made using a prothesis which consists of high density polyethyline for cup part and a metal component for the femoral head. this operation has been practiced with increasing frequency for more than thirty years
(Saura virta , 1994).
In El-Demerdash hospital 80 patients were admitted in the year 1997 for total hip replacement (EI-Demerdash informational center). In Ain Shams specialized hospital 120 patients were admitted in the year 1997 for total hip replacement (Ain Shams specialized hospital Informational centere).
Maslow identified the following needs as being basic to human motivation: physiological needs, safety and security, love and belongingness, self-esteam and self actualization of these needs, mean's physiologic needs are the most basic, the most powerful and the most obvious. These needs include his need for oxygen, liquid, food, shelter, sleep and sex. If one or more of these needs is not met at least minimally, the person
will be unable to meet higher level needs (Kozier et al., 1995'}.
The needs of patient with total hip replacement are physiological and psychological. Physiological needs are
J. oxygen, food, sleep exercises and safety. Patient need for oxygen supply to maintain the optimal level of 02 in the
circulation. Patient should be supply with adequate and
