ADDITIONAL MOMENTS IN ONE WAY SOLID SLABS DUE TO LINE LOADS

Abstract


Presence of line load affects the overall behavior of one-way solid slabs. This effect depends on many parameters such: position of line load, direction of line load, slab aspect ratio, slab short span and line load length.
The additional moments in one-way solid slabs due to line loads are studied. The study is carried out using finite element commercial program (Sap2000).
The model used is a simply supported• one-way solid slab surrounded by four edge beams supported on four corner columns.
Thirteen one-way solid slabs w'ith different dimensions are analyzed for one

thousand and five hundred different study case of loading. Bending moment of the different study cases were investigated and compared with recommendations of
Egyptian code. Effect of variable parameters such as; slab aspect ratio, slab short
'•
span, line load length, line load direction and line load position are studied. Finally the study presents design charts for bending moments.
