HYDROGEOLOGICAL STUDIES OF EL KUFRA AREA (SOUTH EAST LIBYA)
KAMEL ABD EL GELIL ABD ALLAH;
Abstract
The present study deals with the identification of hydrogeological conditions of the Nubia aquifer in El-Kufra area and the change of groundwater level due to the continuous pumping through the current development projects in the study area.
The study was based on the available data from the following sources :
1- Previous reports issued about the study area and adjacent regions by many authorities.
2- Data of shallow and deep wells in the study area that were carried out by different agencies and authorities.
3- Field observation and measurements in the study area by the author.
In the present work, several maps and graphs, were constructed to illustrate hydrogeological and hydrochemical characteristic of the Kufra area with special emphasis on the status of the peizometric head in the Kufra aquifer system before and after the long duration of exploitation. Evaluation of groundwater for different uses is also discussed.
