CURETTAGE VERSUS RESECTION IN RECURRENT GIANT CELL TUMOR OF BONE

Osama Ahmed Abdelhamid Tarraf;

Abstract

In conclusion, the result of this study indicates the re-recurrence rates associated with two different surgical maneuvers, curettage and resection. Both surgical techniques are commonly used to overcome this primary bone tumor, however in terms of recurrence rates, resection is usually more forgiving, according to the results of this study. However recurrent cases of GCTB require an aggressive intervention and this study shows that secondary recurrences still occur with less invasive techniques such as curettage.
